Raleigh LDS Temple – Old

“It is the house of prayer,
Wherein thy servants meet,
And thou, O Lord, art there
Thy chosen flock to greet” (Hymn 247)

Raleigh is the first “small” temple that I painted. I painted it for my niece who grew up in North Carolina. To me, It represents the beauty of the south-the lush green lawns, the colorful crape myrtle trees, and the beautiful flowers-and the blessing of the new “smaller” temples. The announcement of smaller temples being built around the country was an answer to prayer. More people can now enjoy the blessings of the temple on a regular basis. Linda K Burton has stated,” We go to the temple to make sacred covenants with our Heavenly Father. We go home to keep them.” Faith is strong in the South.
